Newsletter September 2021

Hi All,

For a few years now Megan, Daphne and I have been discussing the way forward for the Khanyisela Project. Daphne and I have been administering the project for over 12 years and obviously could not carry on for ever. The Corona Virus pandemic gave us plenty of time to consider this and plans were made to administer the Khanyisela Project, the BabyBoost programme and the Royal Drakensberg Primary School (RDPS) under one umbrella. Still run as different projects but to employ a Project Coordinator to oversee all three entities.

Megan, Loretta (RDPS) and Georgie (RDPS) advertised the post, carried out interviews and we are pleased to announce that Mike Greeff has been appointed Project Coordinator.

Daphne and I went to the Cavern at the end of August and handed over most of our duties to Mike. Mike’s enthusiasm gives us every confidence that he and his team will take the projects to greater heights. Daphne will continue on the board as treasurer and will be looking after the financial aspects of Khanyisela and BabyBoost.

We have really enjoyed our involvement in the Khanyisela Project and proud of all the achievements, teacher training, building classrooms, supply of educational equipment and toys etcetera that we did with the help of donors, both large and small.

Retirement Gifts

Retirement gifts from Zamokuhle school. A stool for Dave to sit on and a mat for Daphne to sit on

Daphne and I have mixed emotions about leaving the project that we have been involved in for over 12 years, but we do need to move on, and we look forward to spending more time with our family in Montagu in the Western Cape.

Dave and Daphne
