Samekelokuhle Early Childhood Development Centre
When Daphne and I moved to The Cavern to help with their social responsibility programme in 2009, almost the first project we undertook was the building of the Samekelokuhle Early Development Centre. Two very enthusiastic ladies, Angel Thulile Sithole and Gabusile Maduna were running a little play group in a rondaval in the rural Busingatha area near the Royal Natal National Park and had requested help from the Carte families.
Between ourselves, The Cavern and Montusi Mountain Lodge we built them a single classroom complete with a storeroom and a kitchen.
Numbers of learners soon increased and a few years later it became clear that another classroom was needed. Through various donations we managed to build a second classroom towards the end of 2013.
Now at the beginning of 2019 there are 84 children (and more expected to enrol) and they are in need of another classroom. Obviously building costs are high so we will build them a smaller classroom if we manage to raise sufficient funds. The cost would be approximately R150000.00.
As the end of the tax year approaches we appeal to you to consider donating towards a new classroom for this, our model school.
The Khanyisela Project is a registered Public Benefit Organisation and can issue donation certificates to South African tax payers.
Please consider a donation towards this lovely pre-school and reduce your tax, so thereby the SA Government will be paying towards the building.
